Video delivery specifications

Requirements for delivering original video source material for Imediasee encoding.

Imediasee works with our customers to deliver the highest possible video quality to your viewers. Great care is taken in the encoding of your videos to achieve this. The quality of the video source you provide is the single greatest determining factor in the quality of the output.

Logistics

All physical video sources are to be sent at customer’s expense to the following address for ingest:

Sources smaller than 2GB can also be uploaded to ftp://ingest.imediasee.com using your Imediasee username and password. Ftps and ftpes are also available if supported by your ftp client. If you prefer we can also download your sources from your website or from any large file sending service you care to use.

Timelines

Video content, including trailers and other promo videos must be received by the Imediasee Operations Center at least 3 weeks before the scheduled publication date.

Most jobs are actually completed much faster, and critical rush jobs can be often be completed in less than 24 hours for an additional fee.

Delivery format

To ensure the best possible picture and sound, we request you submit only the highest professional quality digital source material. Generally, HD sources produce better results than SD sources, and higher data rates are better than lower ones.

  1. Electronic or physical delivery of digital video files

    Files encoded with high quality professional codecs are quickly replacing tape and uncompressed files as the primary delivery method for professional content delivery. Imediasee accepts files in .MOV and .AVI formats on online or via DVD-ROM, USB, Firewire, eSATA or unenclosed SATA drives formatted for either Mac, PC, or Linux.

    Recommended codecs:

    1. Apple Pro Res 422

    2. DVCPROHD
    3. XDCAM
    4. HDV

    Additional supported codecs:

    1. MPEG-2

    2. MPEG-4 (including H.264 AVC)
    3. DVCPRO
    4. DV
    5. Matrox codec’s
    6. Quicktime
    7. VC-1 in a WMV container

    We do not accept for transcoding material that has been pre-encoded to Flash Video.

    Other codecs can be processed for an additional fee. Generally we can accept files using the standard codecs output from any professional non-linear editor.

    Supported video formats:

    1. 1080p

    2. 1080i
    3. 720p (24p or 29.97fps)
    4. 480p (640 x 480p with square pixels)
    5. 480i (720 x 480 or 486 NTSC with non-square pixels)
      1. Standard NTSC

      2. Anamorphic NTSC
      3. PAL versions of the above

  2. Physical DVD delivery

    If a high quality digital source is not available, we will encode from a DVD. Results will vary based on the quality of the original source and the care taken while authoring the DVD.

    We support NTSC DVD’s. PAL DVD’s can be processed for an additional fee.

  3. Physical tape delivery

    Capture from professional digital and analog tape formats is available for an additional fee. Tape formats and conversion are available upon request, Please contact us to confirm:

Documentation

All shipments should be clearly labeled with your Imediasee Customer UID.

Return media

If you require return of your hard drives, tapes, DVD’s or other media, you must include your instructions for addressing and payment for the shipment.
