Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Imediasee Flash Video Streaming Service work?

First, you select a streaming service from those listed on our web site. We offer packages with generous allowances for simultaneous connections, video storage and peak bandwidth. Then you send us your videos by publishing a live stream, uploading your encoded video, or sending us your video for Imediasee to encode. After that all you need to do is place a link to your video on your own web site. There are a variety of ways to do this. Once you have signed up for an account you can read about it in our player documentation.

What plan is right for my situation?

The size of package you select depends on your anticipated traffic volume, but you don’t need to be a psychic. Use the following formula to estimate how many gigabytes you might need. Our disruptive pricing model let’s you pay as you go, no monthly fees or wasted resources as each of our regular packages is good for a year from the date of purchase.

How can I get an account to do some testing?

Since there is no set up fee and all accounts include “ROLL-OVER GBs”, you can simply purchase a small package and use it for testing. If there is any unused amount left after testing, you can use it on your production website. If you are really not sure, purchase one of our 10 day trials.

What sort of content can be streamed?

Your content must be encoded for Flash or H.264.

How do I make sure nobody else uses my videos on their own sites?

If you’re doing viral video, you might want your video on as many sites as possible. If you have high value content that you want to limit to your own site, you can use our optional Domain Restriction settings. This option, which is included with all Imediasee Streaming Service packages, allow you to define the permissible referring domains. If a request comes from another domain it will be refused.

What is encoding?

Encoding is the process of converting video source tapes and files into Flash FLV or MP4 files for use in a Flash player. It may also include digitizing an analog source, which is also called capturing.

Should I use Imediasee for encoding?

Imediasee uses advanced tools and proprietary processes to deliver the highest quality encoding for your target bit rates. We would be happy to handle all you encoding needs, but you have the option to do your own encoding, or employ a third party to do it for you.
