Frequently Asked Questions

Can I keep my current website host?

Yes. Our service hosts the video and player files only.

What plan is right for my situation?

The Per Minute Service packages are designed for ease of use because we do all the encoding and hosting. We also provide you with a customized flash player and application interfaces to optimize the streaming experience for your users. All you do is pick a Per Minute Streaming Service package that is within your budget. If you are not sure how much you will use, just pick one of the smaller packages and see how it goes.

How can I get an account to do some testing?

Since there is no set up fee and all accounts include “ROLL OVER MINUTES OR GBs”, you can simply purchase a small package and use it for testing. If there is any unused amount left after testing, you can use it on your production website.

What sort of content can be streamed?

Your content must be Flash video and adhere to our acceptable use policy, which generally means it must be legal, and you must have the rights to distribute it.

How do I make sure nobody else uses my videos on their own sites?

If you’re doing viral video, you might want your video on as many sites as possible. If you have high value content that you want to limit to your own site, you can use our optional Domain Restriction settings. This option, which is included with all Imediasee Streaming Service packages, allow you to define the permissible referring domains. If a request comes from another domain it will be refused.

How does the Imediasee Flash Video Streaming Service work?

First, you select a streaming service from those listed on our web site. We offer packages that are measured in either Per GB Transfer or Per Minute Streaming with generous allowances for simultaneous connections, video storage and peak bandwidth. Then you send us your videos. For the Per Minute Streaming Service packages we do all of the encoding at the fees listed. The Per GB Streaming Service packages offer you the choice of either providing encoded videos or using our encoding services.

What percentage of desktop computers are compatible with the Imediasee Flash Video Streaming Service?

Adobe® Flash® Player is the world's most pervasive software platform, reaching 98% of Internet-enabled desktops making it the best choice in video delivery. Flash Video can play on the Mac, Linux, and Windows operating systems and is supported by all versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and Opera browsers.

Imediasee works with all recent versions of the Flash Player.
The Imediasee Premium Player requires Flash Player 9 Release 3 or later.

Flash Player 10 is recommended for use with HD video, H.264 video and full screen playback.

After I have signed up, how long will it take before my account is active?

As soon as you complete the purchase transaction you will receive a confirmation email. Per GB Streaming Service accounts are ready to receive uploads of your encoded Flash Videos immediately. For Per Minute Streaming Service accounts you must first send us your videos to be encoded. Once encoded you will be sent the link information to embed in your site.

What is encoding?

Encoding is the process of converting video source tapes and files into Flash FLV or MP4 files for use in a Flash player. It may also include digitizing an analog source, which is also called capturing.

I like the idea of Per Minute Streaming, but would prefer to do my own encoding. Can this be arranged?

No, unfortunately not. Our Per Minute Streaming Service packages all include Dynamic Delivery™, which adjusts the bit rate based on the user’s bandwidth to our servers. For Dynamic Delivery to work optimally, our custom encoding process is required.
